Job Description:

 

The Center for Student Accessibility at Manhattanville University seeks a qualified professional to support students with disabilities at the University by administering student accommodations, managing the Testing Center, and promoting ADAAA and Section 504 compliance on campus.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

 

  •  

Supervision of student workers while acting as Testing Center Proctors

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

 

  •  

Communicate effectively with faculty regarding exam format and proctoring needs and implement appropriate testing center requirements.

 

  •  

Serve as the head proctor for the testing center and oversee student workers as proctors.

 

  •  

Proctor examinations through online testing platforms and become proficient in troubleshooting these platforms.

 

  •  

Uphold exam integrity by monitoring students and testing center carefully

 

  •  

Maintain open communications with students registered with the Center including gathering survey data for the Center

 

  •  

Collect and maintain data on testing center usage and student and faculty experience.

 

  •  

Partner with students to provide note taking and alternate course material accommodations, this includes recruiting and training peer note takers.

 

  •  

Utilize online libraries with accessible eBooks and coordinate with publishers to get accessible copies of textbooks for students with approved alternate text accommodations.

 

  •  

Become proficient and comfortable with using the different technology and software within the Center to facilitate workshops and one-on-one support for students in their utilization

 

  •  

Manage Glean and related software and track student usage through the administrative portal.

 

  •  

Provide workshops or one-on-one training for students on utilizing Glean and related software

 

  •  

Assist the Director and Assistant Director in streamlining electronic forms and management of associated databases.

 

  •  

Support and help organize the Pre-Orientation Program for incoming Valiant Learning Support Program (VLSP) and Pathways and Connections (PAC) students.

 

  •  

Assist in training and supervising student Orientation Leaders for the VLSP/PAC Pre-Orientation Program.

 

  •  

Manage the Center for Student Accessibility Brightspace Module.

 

  •  

Assist with creating event flyers, webpage updates, and social media content.

 

  •  

Maintain office supplies.

 

  •  

Respond to calls and provide general Center information to prospective students/families.

 

  •  

Represent the Center at University events as needed.

 

  •  

Serve as a representative of the Center for Student Accessibility on relevant academic committees.

 

Qualifications:

 

  •  

Experience working with students in higher education with a variety of disabilities, including but not limited to learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, NVLD, anxiety and other mental health issues, physical and cognitive disabilities

 

  •  

Experience working with students with disabilities who qualify for accommodations under ADAAA and/or Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and with compliance surrounding higher education and disability

 

  •  

Demonstrated familiarity with best practice initiatives for working with students with disabilities

 

Education:

 

  •  

A bachelor's degree in disability services, education, or a related field

 

Physical Requirements:

 

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

 

Hours Expectation:

 

Full-time, 35 hours a week, 12 months.

 

Occasional nights/weekends as needed.
