Job Title: Outreach Consultant – Ida Housing Recovery Program (RSHI) 

Organization: Community Resource Center (CRC) 

Location: Westchester County and Rockland County, NY (Hybrid/In-person & Virtual) 

Contract Period: Effective June 30, 2025, and continuing month-to-month unless terminated by either party with 30 days’ written notice. Terms may be reviewed and updated monthly upon mutual agreement. 

Compensation: $20 - 25/hour, up to 25 hours per week 

Position Summary: The Community Resource Center (CRC) seeks a part-time Outreach Consultant to support community engagement for the Ida Housing Recovery and Reimbursement Program (RSHI). This role is vital in ensuring that low-income, immigrant, and undocumented households impacted by Hurricane Ida are informed of and connected to available housing recovery resources. Travel within Westchester and Rockland Counties will be required to support community outreach and engagement efforts. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Community Outreach & Engagement 

  • Distribute CRC-approved bilingual (English/Spanish) materials through community networks and at public events. 
  • Refer eligible families to CRC’s intake team for further support. 
  • Host or co-host at least one community outreach event (virtual or in-person). 
  • Conduct up to 200 direct outreach phone calls to Ida-affected families using CRC-provided lists. 
  • Support follow-up communications throughout the contract period. 

 

Community Presence & Coordination 

  • Engage with houses of worship, clinics, food pantries, and community groups to distribute materials. 
  • Represent CRC at outreach tables/events across affected areas in Westchester and Rockland Counties. 
  • Utilize virtual platforms such as WhatsApp and CRC social media for additional outreach. 

Reporting & Communication 

  • Participate in weekly coordination calls with CRC staff. 
  • Collect and submit data on outreach efforts, including: 
  • Timesheets 
  • Attendance lists (where applicable) 
  • Documentation of outreach (photos, flyers, screenshots) 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Experience in grassroots outreach, community engagement, or public awareness campaigns. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and cultural competency, especially with immigrant and low-income communities. 
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus. 
  • Familiarity with Hurricane Ida’s regional impact and the needs of affected communities is a plus. 
  • Ability to work independently and manage flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. 
  • Proficiency with communication tools (phone, WhatsApp, social media). 

 

Other Requirements: 

  • Must obtain CRC approval for any reimbursable expenses and submit receipts within 30 days. 
  • CRC will reimburse transportation costs related to outreach activities at the federal mileage reimbursement rate, provided that travel is pre-approved and documented with a mileage log.
