Job Description:

 

The Leadership Giving Officer plays a key role in building the pipeline of leadership and major gift donors for Manhattanville University. This frontline fundraising position is responsible for creating and executing strategic plans to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of 200+ individual prospects, with the goal of securing annual leadership gifts in the $1,000 to $100,000 range. The role also offers the opportunity to engage with and develop donors with major gift potential, serving as a critical bridge between annual giving and major gifts.

 

In the first year, the primary focus will be on discovery and qualification work, especially among alumni in the Northeast Corridor. Success will be measured by the volume and quality of outreach and personal visits, with the objective of identifying and qualifying new prospects to build a robust and sustainable donor pipeline. The Leadership Giving Officer will work closely with Advancement colleagues to ensure seamless transitions for prospects moving into higher levels of engagement and giving.

 

This position is ideal for an energetic, self-motivated early-career professional who is eager to grow in the fields of alumni relations, development, and fundraising. The ideal candidate will be relationship-driven, results-oriented, and possess strong communication and organizational skills. Duties/Responsibilities:

 

• Manage a dynamic portfolio of up to 200 leadership-level prospects, including alumni, parents, and friends of Manhattanville University; responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of gifts ranging from $1,000 to $100,000, with an emphasis on building long-term donor relationships.

 

• Collaborate closely with the Annual Giving and Alumni Relations teams to identify and engage new prospective donors, helping to strengthen the overall donor pipeline.

 

• Attend select athletic and campus programs as part of donor cultivation and stewardship strategies, representing the University and fostering deeper alumni and parent engagement.

 

• Partner with the Annual Giving team to support and enhance targeted campaigns and giving initiatives, including Giving Days, class challenges, and other appeals.

 

• Serve as a liaison with donors, faculty, and campus partners, maintaining regular correspondence and ensuring alignment with university priorities and messaging.

 

• Participate in alumni gatherings, reunions, and special events that support fundraising and engagement goals; some evening and weekend work is required.

 

• Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the Advancement and External Relations team.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

 

• Highly organized and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.

 

• Outstanding communication and writing skills, with the ability to persuasively convey the mission, values, and funding priorities of Manhattanville University.

 

• Strong knowledge of, and comfort working with, databases.

 

• Ability to develop and sustain donor-centered relationships that are ethical and professional.

 

• Willingness to travel when it is safe to do so and to work nights and weekends as needed.

 

Qualifications:

 

• Excellent organizational skills and detail-orientation.

 

• Superior writing skills.

 

• Ability to effectively communicate both written and orally with the intended audience.

 

• Proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

 

• Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks, meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.

 

• Ability to professionally interact with all levels of students, staff, faculty and outside groups.

 

• Expected to travel throughout the greater New York City region and the northeast corridor. Additional travel may be necessary.

 

Education:

 

• Bachelor's degree is required.

 

Experience:

 

• Minimum 2-4 years' professional experience in a related field, including development, marketing, customer service or public relations.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

 

Hours Expectation:

 

Full-time, 35 hours per week
