Job Title: Volunteer Part-Time Program Intern
Hours: 6-8 hours/week
Location: Remote (must be able to attend local (Westchester County) events in-person)
Reports To: Executive Director or Program Manager

Position Summary
S.P.E.A.K. (a Supportive Place for Empowering Asian Americans & Kin) is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive volunteer Program Intern to support our small team with communications, scheduling, event coordination and community engagement. This part-time position is ideal for someone organized and tech-savvy with a passion for serving the AANHPI (Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander) community, who enjoys having a flexible work schedule and supporting mission-driven work around AANHPI mental health.

Key Responsibilities
• Email and Communication Support
o Manage the organization’s general email inbox: respond to community inquiries, route messages to appropriate team members, and ensure timely follow-up
o Draft and format email communications or newsletters (e.g. Mailchimp)
o Update and maintain website content (e.g. events, blog posts, announcements, gallery)
• Scheduling and Event Coordination
o Coordinate event logistics (e.g. identifying appropriate venues via outreach, scheduling, working with event partners and sponsors)
o Support preparation of virtual and in-person events (e.g. outreach, registration follow-up)
o Maintain shared calendars and contact lists
• Social Media Engagement
o Help post or schedule content on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn
o Monitor engagement and flag messages or comments for follow-up
o Support light graphic design (e.g. Canva templates) if comfortable

Qualifications
• BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) and AANHPI-identifying individuals are strongly encouraged to apply.
• Strong written communication and organizational skills
• Experience with professional correspondence

• Familiarity with basic Google Workspace tools (e.g. Sheets, Docs) and website platforms (Squarespace)
• Experience with scheduling tools (e.g. Google Calendar, Doodle)
• Comfort with social media platforms and simple design tools (Canva a plus)
• Able to work independently, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail
• Interest in community-based work with AANHPI communities or mental health advocacy a plus

Preferred Skills
• Bilingual in an Asian language
• Familiarity with Westchester, NY


Compensation: This is a volunteer position starting at 6-8 hours/week with the possibility
of a salaried role pending funding. A minimum commitment of 1 year is requested.

Location: Westchester, New York. This is a 90% remote position, with travel within
Westchester County as needed.
