Job Description:
The Assistant Clinical Professor of Physical Education and Teacher Education will be responsible for teaching courses primarily in support of the Master of Arts in Teaching Physical Education graduate program. In addition, a portion of this position's 30-credit load will be reassigned for overseeing student/supervised teaching for all physical education teacher candidates by identifying and vetting placement sites and Cooperating Teachers for each teacher candidate. The position also requires the supervision of Seminar Professors, Field Supervisors, and teacher candidates throughout the practicum semester.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Seminar Professors, Field Supervisors, and Student/Supervised Teachers
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Teach in the Master of Arts in Physical Education program, and other programs as necessary and qualified
• Supervise Seminar Professors, Field Supervisors, and Student/Supervised Teachers
• Identify and vet schools and teachers for field placements
• In collaboration with the Office of Teacher Placement and Certification, secure MOUs with school and districts for placement opportunities
• Coordinate field placements with the Office of Teacher Placement and Certification
• Assign appropriate Field Supervisor with Seminar Professor
• Assign students to Seminar Professors
• Oversee the opening Seminar at the beginning of each semester, as described by the Program Coordinator
• Contribute to on-going CAEP accreditation efforts
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Supervision of teacher candidates
• Collaborate with internal faculty and external stakeholders in schools and districts
• Advise students
Qualifications: Professional teacher certification in Physical Education, preferably NYS
Education: Doctorate in Physical Education or related field
Experience:
• Teaching graduate courses in Physical Education
• Advising and mentoring students
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Salary:
The annual salary for this position is $68,500 - $75,000
Hours Expectation:
Full-time, 35 hours per week
