Founded in 1929, the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle (BGCNR) has been a place of hope and opportunity serving thousands of youths and has been an integral part of the New Rochelle community, offering youth safe and achieve-driven programming, focused on the whole child, encompassing academics, mental wellness, fitness, leadership, and civics.

General Position

The Community and Family Engagement Coordinator focus is to build relationships with BGCNR community, families and community partners by planning and executing outreach programs and events. Key responsibilities include communicating and working with stakeholders, managing events, workshops, volunteers, and developing reports to ensure BGCNR goals align with community and family needs and interests. This position requires strong communication, organization, and public relations skills.

Key Position Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, manage community and family engagement events and workshops from start to finish at each of the BGCNR Mascaro and Remington Clubhouses and 12 school sites.
  • Work closely with CEO, Chief Program Officer, Manager Electives and School Enrollment, Clubhouse and School-Site Directors and partner schools and community organizations as well as parent-teacher organization of partner schools building positive productive relationships.
  • Create and implement communications and outreach strategies to promote programs and events partnering with community organizations.
  • Develop relationships and connect families with resources in the community, including counseling, health services and community service opportunities.
  • Coordinate and manage central BGCNR’s events calendar working with CEO, CPO, and Clubhouses and School-Site Directors.
  • Manage communications through various channels such as email eBlasts, social media, and forums to keep communities and families informed. Ensuring quality content and digital assets are in a centralized place.
  • Assist in managing school-wide communications with families, including monthly calendars, family notices.
  • Recruit, coordinate, and train volunteers to assist with events and programs.
  • Be knowledgeable and stay informed of basic and advanced parent/family/community involvement and training methodology to share ideas and generate strategies to be implemented at Clubs and school sites.
  • Collect and analyze community and family feedback to improve services and programs.
  • Prepare reports on communications strategy performance, community and family engagement metrics, and program outcomes.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with Comm/PR communications and marketing activities
  • Assist Club and school-wide recruitment efforts, including supporting information sessions.
  • Assist in facilitating parent-staff conferences.

Relationship:

Internal:  Maintain close, contact with CEO, CPO, Manager Electives and Student Enrollment, Focus Media Comm/PR firm, Clubhouse and School-Site Directors to ensure a positive, safe, and supportive environment. Attend Comm/PR, program and operations staff meetings and staff development sessions.

External: Maintains contact with families, students, teachers, principals, counselors, other school-day staff and community organizations to give and obtain information.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Minimum of two (2) years in education, social services, adult education, community organizations or related field.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with the community and support agencies.
  • Experience working with families from diverse cultures and economic backgrounds.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with external and internal partners.
  • Hands-on experience with MS Office Suite (particularly Outlook, MS Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Solid time-management abilities with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Effective problem-solver and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to pass background screening including background screening.

Compensation:

Compensation and benefits will be competitive and commensurate with education and experience starting $55K.
