Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS), a nonprofit founded in 1943, has grown to be the largest provider of licensed outpatient community mental health services and one of the largest human service agencies in Westchester County. We provide state-of-the-art programs and services and compassionate care to more than 20,000 people of all ages and backgrounds each year.

 

We are currently seeking a full-time Admitting Specialist to join our team. The Admitting Specialist is involved in the processing of intakes/referrals for prospective clients and/or agencies that are seeking mental health services at WJCS.  WJCS is currently seeking a full-time Admitting Specialist to join our team in Peekskill, NY.  Reporting to the Admitting Director, the Admitting Specialist plays a crucial role in facilitating the intake and referral process for individuals and agencies seeking mental health services at WJCS.    The compensation for this hybrid position is $46,000.  

 

Responsibilities:

As a valued member of our team, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the intake and referral process, schedule initial intake appointments for prospective clients and/or agencies.
  • Verify and obtain benefits and pre-certification information from insurance companies. 
  • Register insurance and pre-certification details for new clients in the electronic health records system.
  • Enter and adjust on-going authorizations, co-pay, and deductible information for established clients.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to insurance authorization, recertification, and coordination of benefits.

 

Requirements:

We are seeking candidates who possess the following qualifications:

  • An Associate’s or a Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related field is preferred, however an applicant with experience and a High School Diploma will be considered. 
  • Prior experience in an office setting, particularly with managed care.
  • Strong understanding of administrative processes with mental health or health care settings.
  • Proficient knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid billing policies. 
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus!
