The STEM Alliance is a rapidly growing Westchester County nonprofit that is building a network of STEM learning opportunities for children and adults here and into New York City. Our goal is to empower our clients with STEM skills that not only lead to higher paying jobs but also solve today's most critical challenges. Our Director of Resource Development plays a leadership role in securing the philanthropic and volunteer support we need to support our programs.
What You'd Be Doing
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Serve as a collaborative member of our Development Team, working to build financial strategy to realize the organization’s mission
- Provide constructive and timely feedback to team members to encourage a positive and productive work environment
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Set development and fundraising goals and strategy in conjunction with the Executive Team
Reach annual fundraising goals through a variety of methods ranging from relationship building to events to print and media campaigns.
- Establish and implement structures needed to grow the solicitation of major gifts, corporate investments, and overall philanthropic support
- Secure diverse funding - corporate, individual, and government based - for new initiatives and internal infrastructure building based on annual targets
- Reinforce the integration of an equity lens into all of the STEM Alliance’s external work and internal operations
- Work with the Board of Directors and support board members to take on a more active fundraising role and to volunteer on a regular basis
- Leverage data to build a diverse donor base/pipeline and provide regular reports on progress to Executive Team and Board
- Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors including relationships with elected officials and advocacy around key priorities
- Oversee systems for donation documentation processes and for acknowledgements that are culturally competent and differentiated (as needed) to reflect the growing diversity of our donors and our diverse donor relationships
- Foster corporate volunteer engagement opportunities for the STEM Alliance to diversify engagement opportunities for potential donors and enthusiastic supporters
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High proficiency on technology with Google Drive and Google Suite applications
- Experience stewarding and securing five and six figure gifts from individuals and institutions
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or other industry-related field;
- At least 10 years of industry-related experience including three years in upper management.
