Founded in 1929, the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle (BGCNR) has been a place of hope and opportunity serving thousands of youths and has been an integral part of the New Rochelle community, offering youth safe and achievement-driven programming, focused on the whole child, encompassing academics, mental wellness, fitness, leadership, and civics.

Today, we serve over 10,000 youth each year, at two clubhouses and 12 school-sites. We offer after-school, before-school, elective, and summer programming designed to maximize positive impact and drive successful outcomes.

 

General Position

The Director of Development and Strategic Partnerships is responsible for developing and building strong relationships with partners, including corporates, businesses, foundations, and donors. The Director will develop, build and manage partnerships with current and new corporates, businesses, foundations, individuals and community organizations.

The Director is a strong relationship and project manager who can develop and cultivate relationships with a variety of businesses, their leadership, content subject matter experts, and Corporate Social Responsibility leads. The Director of Development and Strategic Partnerships is a problem-solver, communicator and upseller. The individual will navigate partners from diverse industries and sectors. This challenge should be met by someone who is adept at learning the challenges and goals of their accounts and matching them with the various programs and target demographics that BGCNR has access to.

 

Key Position Responsibilities

  • Identify potential partnership opportunities and conduct market research.
  • Assess potential partners’ alignment with BGCNR’s goals and values.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy in collaboration with the CEO and Board, including major gifts, individual giving, foundation grants, corporate sponsorships, and major events.
  • Assist Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Programming Officer (CPO) in creating partnership proposals and strategies to approach potential collaborators.
  • Manage pre-meeting activity, including pitch, presentation, and proposals.
  • Cultivate and manage a donor portfolio through strategic outreach, direct engagement, and stewardship of corporate, individual, and foundation funders.
  • Cultivate new revenue sources by creatively and strategically expanding the donor base, ranging from high-profile donors to major national/regional foundations and corporations.
  • Secure sponsorship opportunities with local, regional, and national businesses and organizations.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of new prospects, including routine outreach and cold calls.
  • Act as central point of contact for partner organizations.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between partners.
  • Manage partnerships aligned with the organization’s objectives, and work closely with CEO, CPO, and cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align partnership objectives with organizational goals.
  • Work closely with CPO to develop programmatic content in collaboration with partner subject matter experts.
  • Track results and create reports for all partners as determined by the partnership agreements.
  • Monitor the progress and success of partnerships against predefined metrics.
  • Analyze partnership data and provide regular reports to stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance partnership outcomes and address challenges.
  • Work closely with stakeholders and partners to help promote programs and services.
  • Effectively manage involvement of the CEO, Board, and leadership staff in fundraising engagement, including preparation of pipelines, strategic briefings prior to visits, and arranging for appropriate follow-up from visits and events.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records on donor communications.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, related fields and or equivalent experience.
  • 2 to 5 years’ experience in development and/or strategic partnerships, budgeting, sales/marketing, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated track record in identifying cultivating, and soliciting major corporates, foundations, private, and/or individual donors and securing large gifts and grants.
  • Knowledge of Westchester/local donor community and corporations is preferred as is a background in youth development and advocacy is an asset.
  • Build trust and rapport with internal and external decision makers at partner organizations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication to convey plans and updates to stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage complex partnership projects from initiation to execution.
  • Data-driven approach to evaluating partnership performance and identifying areas for optimization.
  • Strong organizational, data and analysis; able to effectively use metrics to drive development decisions and achieve strategic objectives.
  • Ability to manage systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including donor database and wealth screening tools.
  • Highly proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Power Point, Word).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with great attention to detail, strong with follow-through and tracking.
  • Goal-oriented detailed-oriented with ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to pass background screening.

Compensation:

The Annual Base Salary is $80,000. In addition, the candidate will be eligible for a bonus opportunity of 10% of every $350,000 raised, awarded upon each $350,000 milestone in secured unrestricted funding excluding events. The bonus will be calculated and distributed following receipt and confirmation of funds”.
