OPPORTUNITY

SPRYE, Inc. seeks an experienced and inspirational Executive Director to lead a strong and engaged community of adults aging in place in Harrison, Port Chester, Rye and Rye Brook, NY.  This is a unique opportunity to build on SPRYE’s accomplishments, update its strategic plan and expand its membership, services, infrastructure and partnerships.

The Executive Director will be responsible for executing SPRYE’s mission and managing its daily operations. The Executive Director reports to the Board President and operates under the oversight of the Board of Directors (currently16 members).

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

SPRYE is an innovative nonprofit organization established in 2011 to provide a support network  for adults 55-years and older who want to live confidently at home and stay connected to their community in meaningful ways.  We enrich the daily lives of our members by offering stimulating programs, lectures, outings, transportation, technology assistance, referrals and the caring support of our dedicated staff and volunteers.

SPRYE is one of a growing number of independent aging-in-place” (AIP) organizations around the country, including ones in the nearby communities of Larchmont/Mamaroneck, Bronxville, Tarrytown, Greenwich and New Canaan.  SPRYE is also  a member of the nationwide Village to Village Network.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Membership Services

  • Maintain supportive, caring relationships with SPRYE members.
  • Actively recruit new members and retain existing members.
  • Monitor the needs and interests of members.
  • Coordinate with board members on cultural and social programs and events.

Business Development

  • Update SPRYE’s strategic plan, including services SPRYE offers and partnerships with other aging-in-place and non-profit organizations.
  • Deliver SPRYE’s services in support of our membership.
  • Oversee member, donor, accounting and other systems and databases. Develop reporting systems and performance metrics to track membership and fundraising.
  • Manage the employee and volunteer personnel.
  • Strengthen and expand the volunteer program.

Finances and Fund Raising

  • Work with the Treasurer to develop, recommend and monitor the annual budget.
  • Partner with the Board in fundraising, including cultivating sponsors and donors.
  • Collaborate with the Board committee planning the annual benefit.
  • Lead the grant application process.

Board Relations

  • Review regularly SPRYE’s status and developments for the Board.
  • With the President, plan and participate in Board and Executive Committee meetings.
  • Collaborate with Board committees to assist them in achieving their goals.

Public Relations

  • Supervise SPRYE’s communications, including social media, website and annual report.
  • Publicize SPRYE with civic groups, other non-profits and the media.
  • Develop a strategic marketing and communications plan to attract and retain members.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience working with seniors in a sensitive, caring, knowledgeable manner. Good references are a must.
  • Senior leadership experience in nonprofit management and working with a board.
  • Proven administrative capabilities.
  • Proficient with social media, Microsoft office/Google Workspace, database applications (e.g., Little Green Light), Quickbooks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, working with older adults, staff, volunteers and the board.
  • Leadership – Ethical leadership, engaging and compassionate with members. Emotional intelligence is very important.
  • Fundraising experience.
  • Writing and communications skills including public speaking.
  • Familiarity with SPRYE’s serving area and area resources a plus.
  • Relevant academic background.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is a full-time exempt, salaried position.  The salary range is $80,000 plus, commensurate with experience.  The position will include a competitive benefits package. The Executive Director has workplace flexibility - on-site at SPRYE’s Port Chester office, remotely and in the field with members.  SPRYE has a supportive and nurturing workplace culture that offers freedom and autonomy in your day-to-day work.
