Job Title: Part-Time Data Analyst/Storyteller
Organization: Westchester Children’s Association (WCA)
Location: Hybrid – White Plains, NY / Remote
Hours: Approximately 15–20 hours per week

Position Overview
The Part-Time Data Analyst/Storyteller will support WCA’s research, advocacy, and communications efforts by managing, analyzing, and visualizing data related to child well-being in Westchester County. You will play a key role in transforming complex data into compelling stories that highlight our impact, inform stakeholders, and inspire fellow child advocates to take action on policies that affect children and youth in Westchester County and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and analyze datasets related to children’s health, education, safety, and well-being.
- Use Rand/or Python for statistical analysis and automation of data processes.
- Design and develop interactive dashboards in Tableauto communicate key findings.
- Create visually engaging charts, graphs, and infographics for reports, presentations, and web/social media
- Conduct background research to identify, evaluate, and interpret relevant public data sources.
- Provide quality assurance for other WCA data work.
- Support the preparation of WCA’s signature publications, such as the Poverty Pulseand the biannual Children by the Numbers
- Collaborate with program, policy, and communications staff to ensure data is accessible and impactful.
Qualifications
Required:
- Proficiencyin R and/or Python for data analysis and visualization.
- Experience with Tableau(or a similar data visualization platform).
- Strong skills in data visualization, including the ability to present findings clearly for non-technical audiences.
- Basic knowledge of statistics orresearch methods.
- Experience in collecting, cleaning, and managing datasets from multiple sources.
- Solid research skills, including locating and interpreting public datasets and reports.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of social science, public policy, public health, or related fields.
- Familiarity with Westchester County demographics and issues affecting children.
- Experience with GIS or mapping tools.
- Familiarity with data ethics and responsible storytelling
- Graphic Design skills
Compensation & Benefits
- $25-$35/hour, commensuratewith experience.
