POSITION SUMMARY:  Communications Director is responsible for ensuring that marketing and communications are done in a clear and efficient manner and that all Y-USA brand standards are met. 

CORE FUNCTIONS:

  1. Member Experience: Through exceptional engagement and relationship building, create outstanding, personalized customer experiences that foster loyalty to the Y and commitment to its mission, cause and values as well as encouraging long lasting and deeper connections between members.
  2. Safe/Clean Environment: Provide safe, clean and well-maintained equipment and facilities in order to assist with best supporting people we serve. 
  3. Programs/Services: Based on member feedback and Rye Y availability, provide exceptional service offerings during desired/available times, ensuring quality curriculums and member focused staff.
  4. Leadership Development: Recruit, hire, train, manage, appreciate and lead a qualified and committed staff, /volunteers who represent the communities we serve and are held accountable for welcoming and valuing members and incorporating relationship-building and member achievement into all programs.
  5. Marketing and Communication: Keeps members and prospective members informed in a timely fashion and using a variety of clear, concise methods.   All communications materials are grounded in the language of the Y’s cause and mission reflect the diversity of people the Y engages, and maintains the Y’s reputation by promoting the value and impact of being a Rye Y member.
  6. Social Responsibility: Understands and models YMCA values.  Focus on creating positive social and community change through the development of meaningful programs and services and helping to ensure that everyone has access.

ESSENTIAL ACTIVITIES:

  1. Develops and manages annual marketing plan in collaboration with Membership, Childcare, Programs, Development and Human Resources; monitors the achievement of this plan, taking appropriate action to ensure that the goals and objectives are met.
  2. Develops and designs printed materials in collaboration with Membership, Childcare, Programs, Development and Human Resources; this includes, but is not limited to, program guides, camp guides, outreach materials, brochures, banners, posters, postcards, business cards and other promotional materials.
  3. Develops and updates content and design of website in conjunction with Membership, Childcare, Programs, Development and Human Resources.
  4. Responsible for managing, writing and designing the content of electronic communications to members and staff; this includes emergency communications.
  5. Provides leadership and oversight to all staff, ensuring that all social media activity reinforce the Rye YMCA’s identity as a cause driven organization.

 KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

  • Quality results from various member surveys; and
  • Increased or consistent program participation/member retention

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Previous professional experience in membership, marketing and/or sales preferred.
  3. Excellent computer skills and proficiency in various creative software products, as well as Word and Excel.
  4. Must have good interpersonal, public relations and communications skills, including the ability to make presentations and handle media inquiries.

WORK SCHEDULE: CORE BUSINESS HOURS – Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30/9:00-5:00/9:30-5:30 W/FLEXIBILITY

SALARY RANGE: $66,300-$75,634 (DEPENDS ON SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE)
