Board of Trustees: Member Qualifications, Responsibilities and Expectations
The Music Conservatory of Westchester seeks individuals for its Board of Trustees who have an abiding interest in music, education, and access for all, as well as a commitment to serving the community. Board candidates are professionals in a wide variety of fields, are well connected in the community, and willing to volunteer their time for the benefit of the organization.
Term of Service: Board members are elected to serve a three-year term, and may be reelected for additional terms.
Board Meetings take place five times/year in October, December, February, March and June. Members are expected to participate in all meetings, preferably in person; there is a remote option if you are unable to attend a meeting in-person.
Giving: The board has a “give or get” financial commitment of $7,500 per year. Some members contribute a portion of this and help secure the balance through their contacts; others contribute the full amount. Essential pro bono goods or services may also be counted.
Committee Service: Current committees include Executive-Finance, Stewardship, Events, and Investment. Additional planned committees include Technology and Development. Committees meet three to four times/year
Community Engagement and Donor Cultivation: Board members make connections with individuals and organizations that have with the potential to benefit the Conservatory by making financial contributions and in other ways including building enrollment and providing pro bono goods and services. Board members serve as ambassadors to the our internal and external community.
Thank you for your interest in the Music Conservatory of Westchester's Board of Trustees. We are a nonprofit community music school serving 2,800 students each year through our onsite and outreach programs. Our Scholarship Program for students with financial need, Music Therapy Program for people with disabilities, and Healing Our Heroes program for military veterans help ensure access for all.
