Medical Coder

Job Summary:

Medical Coders mission is to review, analyze, and assure the final diagnosis/procedures as stated by the practicing provider(s) are valid and complete. To accurately follow coding guidelines and legal requirements to ensure compliancy with Federal and State regulations.                                                                                                                

Primary Responsibility of the Position:

·         Audit Transcription of physician notes into an alphanumerical code set (ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS).

·         Perform comprehensive review of record, to assure presence of all component parts are indicated. 

·         Evaluate record documentation of consistency and adequacy.                                                      

·         Ensure proper submission of services prior to billing on pre-determined charges.                           

·         Accurately follow coding guidelines and legal requirements to ensure compliance with Federal and state regulations.                                                                                   

·         Maintains compliance standards in accordance with the Compliance Policies and Code of Ethics    

·         Reports Compliance problems appropriately.                                                                               

·         Determines the final diagnosis and procedures stated by the physician(s) or health care provider(s) are valid, and complete.                                                                        

·         Maintain all mandatory in-service meetings and/or training.                                              

·         Performs other related duties, which may be inclusive, but not listed in job description.
