About Circle of Care

Founded in 2003, Circle of Care provides practical, emotional, and financial support to families facing childhood cancer throughout Connecticut and neighboring regions. Working alongside pediatric oncology teams at regional children's hospitals, our programs help families navigate the many challenges that exist beyond medical treatment.

Each year, Circle of Care serves more than 275 families through emergency financial assistance, educational programs, peer support, family resources, room makeovers, and other services designed to ease the childhood cancer journey. Since our founding, we have provided more than $6 million in direct assistance to over 4,100 families.

Why This Role Matters

This position serves as one of Circle of Care's primary ambassadors in the community.

Success is measured by building meaningful relationships that lead to new partnerships, increased visibility, volunteer engagement, sponsorship opportunities, and expanded fundraising.

You'll cultivate relationships with businesses, civic organizations, schools, faith communities, and community leaders while managing Circle of Care's growing peer-to-peer and third-party fundraising portfolio with significant opportunity for future growth.

Key Responsibilities

Community Partnerships & Business Development

  • Represent Circle of Care throughout the community by building relationships with businesses, civic organizations, schools, colleges, faith communities, and other community partners.
  • Develop new partnership opportunities that increase visibility, volunteer engagement, sponsorships, and fundraising.
  • Identify qualified prospects and cultivate meaningful relationships.
  • Document partnership opportunities in the CRM and collaborate with the Development Manager on relationship transitions.

Peer-to-Peer & Third-Party Fundraising

  • Lead and grow Circle of Care's peer-to-peer and third-party fundraising programs.
  • Recruit, support, engage and manage fundraising participants, committees, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Collaborate with the Development Operations Specialist on platform setup and participant onboarding.
  • Identify opportunities to expand participation and fundraising revenue.

Community Engagement & Public Speaking

  • Serve as a public representative and spokesperson at community events.
  • Deliver engaging presentations about Circle of Care's mission and impact.
  • Develop presentations and remarks with the Executive Director and Marketing team.

Strategic Collaboration

  • Collaborate on annual fundraising and engagement goals.
  • Contribute to annual budgeting.
  • Work closely with Development, Marketing, Programs, Executive Leadership, volunteers, and partners.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records.

  • Increase Circle of Care's visibility throughout the communities we serve.
  • Build a healthy pipeline of new partnership opportunities.
  • Grow participation in peer-to-peer and third-party fundraising.
  • Strengthen volunteer recruitment and community engagement.
  • Help expand fundraising revenue through meaningful partnerships.

Qualifications

Required

  • Five or more years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, business development, community engagement, partnership development, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated success building relationships that resulted in measurable fundraising, sponsorship, or community engagement outcomes.
  • Excellent presentation, networking, and public speaking skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Experience using CRM systems and donor databases.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to perform light physical work.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience supervising staff, consultants, or volunteers.
  • Experience with Bloomerang, GiveSmart, Run Sign up and other 3rd party platforms.
  • Experience collaborating across fundraising, marketing, finance, and program teams.
  • Experience managing peer-to-peer fundraising or community campaigns.
