SKILLS/ABILITY

Ability to take initiative, good judgement, excellent communications, interpersonal and writing skills. Substantial knowledge and understanding of mental health field and of mental illness. Knowledge and ability to endorse and promote person-centered recovery model and services with adults with psychiatric disabilities and associated functional impairments. Proficient in problem-solving, handling crisis, manage high risk case load. Ability to plan, develop and facilitate curriculum-based classes and groups. Knowledge of state regulations, Medicaid, and other regulatory requirements for PROS program a plus. Ability to do outreach and work with external agencies. Computer proficiency including knowledge of electronic health reporting
Ability to satisfactorily complete required documentation with regard to due dates and content. Must be able to use a hybrid model of telehealth and in person service delivery and staff meetings. 

        
JOB DESCRIPTION:  
The Guidance Center of Westchester Personalized Recovery-Oriented Services (PROS) program seeks a licensed individual for the position of Clinical Senior Recovery Counselor at our main Mount Vernon NY location, walking distance to Metro North. PROS offers adults with serious mental illness a broad range of integrated services designed to help them achieve goals for work, education, relationships, socialization, living, and health and wellness.

Specific Responsibilities:

Provide recovery-based service coordination for caseload of 18-20 (on average) participants with psychiatric disabilities and secondary learning or substance use diagnoses.
Collaborate with caseload participants to develop individualized recovery plans and complete monthly progress reports within required time frames
Schedule and hold weekly meetings with each caseload participant to assess progress, plan, schedule, and/or provide clinical service interventions.
Complete all required EHR and paper documentation required in the case record
Conduct required psychosocial, substance use screenings, psychiatric rehabilitation, and other assessments within required time frames.
Develop syllabi and lesson plans for, and facilitate/teach PROS classes or groups (average 10-12 per week) consistent with PROS services
Monitor attendance of caseload participants to notice unexplained absences and to reach out/ intervene in a timely manner
Attend and/or facilitate weekly staff meetings and other agency or program meetings as required.
Participate in and/or facilitate case presentations and conferences with other staff, family members of participants, other service providers, etc.
Cover classes and individual services for absent staff as requested by supervisor.
Provide crisis intervention services for participants.
Initiate, maintain and document contact with outside mental health, medical, housing, and social services service providers of caseload participants.
Participate in in-service trainings, workshops, webinars, and conferences as requested by supervisor
Work cooperatively and collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to promote and sustain best practices
May clinically supervise peers and student interns as permitted by licensure
May help train and guide other staff in performance of clinical responsibilities.
Complete intakes as needed.
Any other duties as assigned.
